Baltimore AIDS Walk & Run 2018!
Dear Friends & Family,
When I moved to Baltimore in 2001 to work at a hospice for homeless people with AIDS, I was overwhelmed by the need in Baltimore. Today, 17 years later, the need is still so very real.
Chase Brexton Health Care turns 40 years old this year. So many of those years were consumed with fighting HIV/AIDS when it was at its absolute worst. Today, even with so many medical advances, even with less stigma, that fight is still crucial. For Maryland, in 2016 there were 1,118 newly diagnosed cases of HIV, but the CDC estimates that 15% of those who have HIV do not know it.
In the LGBT Health Resource Center, we run a theraputic support group for long term surivivors of HIV, and it is something that I am incredibly proud of. But from reaching out and testing in the community, to supporting the long term survivors, funding continues to dwindle. You can help make a difference! Help support the work of our organziation!
With many thanks,
